Property description

Location Starre Cottage is wonderfully situated within the charming village of Beer, being only a short walk from the local delicatessens, restaurants, bars and the beautiful pebble beach whilst maintaining a peacefully idyllic location.

Historical Background The manor of Beer was once owned by Henry VIII and was gifted by him, including the manor house, to his sixth and final wife, Katherine Parr. Starre Cottage is built entirely of famous beer stone, which was specifically chosen to construct Katherine Parr's tomb in Sudeley Castle. The final residents of the Starre family to live here, John and Dorothy Starre, died from the plague at home in 1646. A memorial plaque to them, carved in Beer stone, can still be seen in Beer church today.
