This unusual character property is located on one of the upper terraces of Victorian Ventnor. You’ll be in for more than a few surprises when you come to visit this little gem which has a wealth of features and one of the best views in the town.
Step inside to the lounge and dining area and start to appreciate its charm and warmth. Don’t be fooled by the trompe d'oeil, but instead descend to the kitchen below where you’ll find a comfortable area to put your culinary skills to the test. Also down here is a practical storage area and access to the front of the house. On the first floor you'll find the first of the bedrooms with a spectacular view of the sea which can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own bed. Up again and you’re into the second bedroom which has an even better view to the sea at the front and over the dramatic garden to the rear, which is nestled under Ventnor Downs.
Its outside though where the real surprises are in store. Take the steps up to the higher terrace in the garden and you’ll discover a fabulous ‘crow’s nest’ summer chalet which commands magical views over Ventnor Bay. Relax with a glass of Pinot Grigio and enjoy some alfresco dining while the sun sets over the glistening sea. This has to be one of the best vantage points in Ventnor and an inspirational place to paint or write.
This unusual and quirky home really does offer buyers something a little bit special and would be ideal as either a permanent seaside home or a luxury holiday retreat.
What the Owner says:
When I first saw this character property I was immediately drawn to its unusual layout and the space the house has to offer. It was when I climbed to the top of the garden that I knew I had to buy it after marvelling at the view over the sea. I have done quite a lot of work restoring the house including installing the summer chalet at the top of the garden. It was a tough job, but the views are amazing and we often sit up there in the evening throughout the year looking at the horizon. With four flights of stairs you certainly keep fit in this house which was originally built as a seaside retreat for missionaries of the nearby church. I will miss the great location and convenience of walking to the town and hope that the new owners will love the property as much as I have.
