Property description

A characterful chalet bungalow, set above the beach at Chapel Porth, on one of the UK's most dramatic and unspoilt sections of coastline.

Description
This unique, and characterful detached home occupies an enviable location above the National Trust Cove at Chapel Porth, and enjoying views towards Wheal Freedom and the surrounding heathland. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the coast path is easily accessible as is the popular beach, a favorite amongst the more adventurous surfers and kayakers.

The building dates from the 1920's and is constructed of timber framed and clad elevations, under a corrugated roof. As it stands today, the building was refurbished in 2014, offering a bright interior with an enclosed verandah along the front of the building.

The accommodation extends to about 1,366 sq ft, with an open-plan kitchen/dining and living space on the ground floor, two double bedrooms and a bathroom. A multi-fuel Rayburn provides heating and cooking facilities and there is also an electric oven with gas hob. The first floor provides a further bedroom and sitting area, with a notable porthole window, offering a glimpse towards the beach, hence the property's name - The Glimpse.

Outside, there is a useful storage shed to the side of the building, behind which is a partly covered courtyard area with kayak and surfboard storage. There is parking in front of the building on an unmade road, over which the property has a right of access.

Location
Chapel Porth is set on the North Cornish Coastline, between St. Agnes head to the north and Porthtowan to the south. The west facing beach offers a large expanse of golden sand at low tide and is popular with surfers, kayakers and walkers alike.

Approached via a steep valley, in the summer months a sea of glowing heather make it hard to believe this area was once an industrial landscape, with enigmatic buildings perched on the cliffs providing a reminder of the areas tin and copper mining past.

For walkers, there are numerous routes around St. Agnes Beacon and the surrounding cliff tops, which are one of the last remnants of a huge tract of heathland, which once spread across Cornwall.

This rare and important habitat is internationally recognised for its wealth of wildlife and stunning beauty, whilst Wheal Charlotte, Wheal Coates or Trevellas can all be explored from this unique World Heritage Site.

St Agnes at about 2 miles has an excellent range of independent shops, cafes and bistros, as well as a butchers, bakers, doctors and dentists surgeries, a library and highly regarded primary school.

Truro at about 8 miles provides a further and more extensive range of shopping and schooling facilities as well as access to the A30 and a mainline train station. Newquay Airport at about 20 miles has an extensive range of flights to UK and international destinations on a daily basis.

Square Footage: 1,366 sq ft
