You wont believe the size of the garden that comes with this gorgeous 3 bed Victorian Semi on Blakeney Road in Beckenham.

Bordering the train line that connects Clock House to New Beckenham, this house has now got the benefit of a large portion of land which presumably originally separated it from the row of houses. Between the previous and current owners (who moved in 2011), they have made it something special - featuring a summerhouse, workshop, 2 x sheds, greenhouse, multiple fruit trees, veg patches and even a chicken coop for fresh morning eggs!

The garden is spectacular, however the house should not be sniffed at, being a grand Victorian Semi, with 3 receptions, 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (including a en suite and WC) all kept immaculately.

Unlike modern houses today, there is tons of storage available in each room, under the stairs and 2 x lofts which could easily be transformed into more habitable space if required.

These L shaped Victorian houses, are also often extended down the 'side ruturn' - an extension option I would encourage you to explore if you haven't seen them already.

It makes a great family home, even for more mature families, squeezing 3 small cars onto the drive (or certainly 2 x large cars with a third on street in front) and the three bedrooms are all doubles. There are also solar panels on the roof, which help keep the bills down, and a wood burner in the lounge - for cosy evenings in.

Beckenham has always been a highly desirable place to live and has become even more popular in the home moving boom of 2020-22. The house benefits from being within a 900m walk of 4 great train stations featuring 3 separate lines. Beckenham High Street is becoming more and more exclusive plus there are numerous local parks and great schools.

Here is a little bit from the owners:

The garden is productive all the year round and is always an enjoyable place to work or relax and promote a sense of well being.

There are beds for seasonal fruits and vegetables to be planted which provide round the year crops.

Already established are a number of different fruit trees – peach, apple, plum, greengage, white mulberry and cherry, all of which usually crop abundantly so there are good supplies for the freezer, jam making and chutney.

There is a wide variety of soft fruits – gooseberries, blackcurrants, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, loganberries, Japanese wineberries and cultivated blackberries as well as a white grape vine and rhubarb. All excellent to freeze the excess!

The summerhouse provides a comfortable space for dining, and just sitting, and listening to the bird song. There is a small pond and a planted area of decorative grasses. There are several niches to sit in to catch the sun at different times during the day.

A workshop provides ample space to turn hands to creative activities, and a couple of sheds store the usual garden equipment needed to maintain this productive garden. A large greenhouse is a space to bring on seedlings and grow indoor salad crops.

There is an area of grass, which can accommodate a gazebo and is ideal for outdoor entertaining.

During the time we have lived at Blakeney Road we have also kept honey bees, at one time having five hives. We have also kept chickens so egg supplies are always assured.
