Steeped in history and oozing charm and character this fabulous ground floor apartment is certainly not one to be missed. Set in the quaint village of Bonchurch this former Victorian coaching inn was a favourite resting place with Victorian aristocrats and the Hilton Hotel of its time.
This grand building dates back hundreds of years but after the decline of the seaside resort holiday, it was converted into apartments in the 1970’s. This fine apartment occupies the majority of the ground floor and boasts many original features. As you pull up outside and then step inside you’ll already be imagining what a grand place this would have been all those years ago. With tall ceilings, light and comfortable rooms the property offers plenty of scope for modernisation. It is one of the only original apartments here not to have been refurbished since conversion.
The living room and front bedrooms all offer sea views and access to the private garden where you can relax, take in the scenery and enjoy the sunshine. The garden rooms off the bedrooms give you a lovely area to sit and have a refreshing cup of tea before taking a walk down to the beach or into town and with no restrictions for pets you can bring the dog here too. This unique opportunity really gives someone a chance to buy a piece of Ventnor’s history and with some time, money and effort you can make this property something really special and fall in love with it like the Victorians did all those years ago. Please refer to the footnote regarding the services and appliances.
What the Owner says:
I bought this property many years ago as I wanted to be near the beaches and the footpaths so I could take my dogs for long walks. When I first saw the space and size of the rooms I was sold on living here, and when I realised it had its own private garden from where you can admire the sea views, it left me feeling as though I had definitely found my dream home. After settling in and getting to know the neighbours living here is a breeze. It’s quiet, out the way, still close to Ventnor and everyone is very friendly. The property has not been changed for a while and does require some modernisation and refurbishment, but I am sure whoever buys it will appreciate its history and character and love the property as much as I do.
