THE OLD SCHOOL HOUSE, HIGH STREET, OAKHILL BA3 5AL

About the area
The small village of Oakhill stands on the beautiful Mendip Hills, 7 miles north of Wells and about 13 miles and 17 miles south of Bath and Bristol respectively. Wells, the smallest city in England (population about 11,000), has local markets twice a week and many medieval buildings including the Cathedral and moated Bishops Palace. It has a busy local shopping centre and a broad range of societies and activities.Bristol and Bath are both fine historic cities which are rapidly growing economic centres. There are good communications with the A37 nearby and fast speed train services from Castle Cary (11 miles south) or Bath Spa (about 11 miles). The airport is about 17 miles away.

*
The village has a church, a well regarded primary school, a gastro pub and an active and friendly community with many local events. Babington House is within about 8 miles. There are excellent state & independent schools in the area including Wells Blue School, Wells Cathedral School, Millfield, Downside and All Hallows plus those in nearby Bruton and Bristol and Bath. The landscape of the area has changed little over the centuries because of strict planning laws and careful stewardship by landowners. This beautiful countryside is very accessible with small quiet lanes and numerous footpaths, which make it very pleasant for walkers and cyclists. There are also numerous sporting, cultural and social activities and organisations available.

Accommodation
The Old School House is in the heart of the village away from busy main roads. it stands fronting the quiet High Street with a pretty front garden and a short driveway in front of the garage. The house has many period details, great character and comfortable accommodaion with gas central heating and double glazing. The front door opens into an ENTRANCE PORCH with a cloaks cupboard and to the left is the SITTING ROOM. This is a double aspect room with ceiling beams, staircase, alcoves, fireplace, wall lights and a staircase.

There is a range of fitted floor and wall units, a sink unit and a free standing stove with an extractor above. This has a tiled floor, a sink unit, space and plumbing for washing machine and a door into the SHOWER ROOM with hand basin, wc, and a tiled shower cubicle with an electric shower.

The staircase in the sitting room leads up to a LANDING and BEDROOM ONE being a single room. Adjacent is BEDROOM TWO being a double with built in wardrobes. The BATHROOM has a hand basin with tiled surround and cupboards below, wc, and a bath with a shower screen and electric shower above and a tiled wall surround. BEDROOM THREE has a dual aspect and is a large double with access to under eaves storage. Gardens
Outside the French door in the dining room is a paved south-facing terrace with a well planted \"all year-\" garden. Steps lead up to a garden bounded by a high stone wall. There is a small lawn numerous shrubs, flower beds, a timber trellis arch opens to a paved dining/sitting area with a balustrade and through again to a further area with a greenhouse. At the front of the house is a stone archway with a gravel drive to the garage and again a very pretty front garden with a porch canopy, small wall with planting space and a footpath to the front door.
