It is surrounded by picturesque Mid-Devon countryside providing a selection of footpaths and walks through Shobrooke Park and a walk along the country lanes can bring you to the village of Newton St Cyres with the train to Exeter/Crediton and the ever popular Beer Engine public house.

CREDITON is an old Mid Devon market town with a wealth of history, being situated just 7.5 miles north-west of the Cathedral City of Exeter with the M5 motorway some 3 miles further on.  The town is surrounded by unspoilt farmland in an area of great natural beauty.  There is a regular daily bus service to Exeter plus trains every hour to Exeter and Barnstaple and a local town bus which covers most urban areas.  The town is most famous for its ancient parish church and for being the birthplace of St Boniface in 680 AD.  It has excellent schooling facilities at both senior and junior levels and a sports and leisure centre incorporating a superb swimming pool.  The town has an excellent selection of shops with a Morrisons and a large Tesco superstore/petrol filling station. 

DIRECTIONS FROM CREDITON: Take the A3072 out of Crediton and turn right just after Creedy Bridge as signed to Shobrooke. Take the next right turn (opposite the lodge house) and Westacott is the first property on the left after approx. 0.4 miles.  

DIRECTIONS FROM EXETER : Take the A377 towards Crediton, continue through the village of Newton St Cyres and turn right at Station Road, where you will see a sign for Beer Engine Public House. Proceed along this road for around half a mile, until you come to the public house on your left hand side. Turn left past the public house, onto Wykes Lane. Continue along this road, turning left at the junction and Westacott will be on your right hand side after approx. 1.3 miles.
