When you ask the owners what their favourite memory is of life at The Malthouse they will tell you the family parties in the garden and in the barn, these include their daughter’s wedding reception, parents’ golden wedding anniversary party and a 90th birthday party. Also the large family Christmases in the dining room, which have seated 30 and the joy of bringing up five children with each able to have a double bedroom.
On the ground floor you will find a large sitting room with an inglenook fireplace with a lovingly restored “beehive” hearth and a former bread oven. A snug/TV room leads into the modern Schmidt kitchen which in turns leads into the newly restored dining room with another fireplace, currently not being used. You will also find a utility room (named the ‘dairy’ in the original plans) with a door to the outside, a perfect place for boots, coats and pets after a walk, and a cloakroom. Upstairs the principal bedroom has a dressing room, both bathrooms have recently been redone and are beautifully finished, there are 4 further bedrooms on the first floor and a fifth on the second floor.

It takes just 50min hour to Waterloo, Victoria or London Bridge and yet when you step off the train and drive through the town with its boutiques, galleries, cafes, restaurants and pubs it has all the feel of being deep in the English countryside.
Places to eat include the Michelin Starred Sorrel restaurant in the heart of Dorking, a plethora of nearby gastro pubs and a fabulous choice of local cafes and tearooms. Denbies wine Estate not only offers you tours of their extensive vineyards but a restaurant too. Close by is Box Hill known for the far reaching views from the top, however you get there, Beaverbrook Luxury Country House Hotel and Spa, Polesden Lacey and rhs Wisley Gardens.
